My approach

My approach to therapy is based on my belief that the way we experience the world is influenced by circumstances that are outside of our control. We don’t get to choose when or where we are born, how we are raised, how other people interact with us or what is happening in the world around us. This lack of control can make us feel overwhelmed, helpless and at times want to just give up.

However, the one thing we can control is how we respond to the chaos around us.

For many of us, having any control over our lives can feel completely out of reach. It isn’t an easy or quick journey, but I strongly believe that each and every one of us has the ability to learn how to make better choices for ourselves that can result in us living with more peace, kindness and joy than might feel possible right now.

Within our sessions I strive to work with you to find a better understanding of self and offer tools and practices to help you begin to feel more agency and less ruled by circumstances outside of your control.

For example, sessions could include exploring your childhood experiences, looking at your current relationships, creating diagrams to identify your patterns and behaviours, or be stripped back to simply talking it out.

Some approaches/ideas that I regularly draw on are:

-Compassion Focused Therapy

-Existential Psychotherapy

-Person-Centred Counselling

-Neuroscience and biology

-Eastern and Western philosophy

-Trauma-informed approaches

-Psychodynamic theories

It is important to emphasise that the session is your time to use how you want.
